Lauren Opielinski

Lauren is a PhD student in the Exercise Science and Rehabilitation Science program at Marquette University and has been a member of the Hunter Lab since 2020. Prior to starting her PhD, Lauren earned her BS in Exercise Physiology from Marquette University in 2019.  Lauren also obtained her MS in the Exercise and Rehabilitation Science program at Marquette University in advanced degree program in 2020 with a research focus of strength & fatigue in African American prostate cancer survivors. After completing her MS degree, Lauren worked as a research lab manager and research coordinator within the Neuromuscular Physiology Lab at Marquette of varying research topics.  Lauren has also served as a laboratory supervisor for a handful of courses taught in the Exercise Science program since 2018. 

Since joining the Neuromuscular Physiology Lab, Lauren has aided in multiple research studies under the mentorship of Dr. Sandra Hunter. Lauren’s PhD dissertation research investigates COVID-19 survivorship and persistent effects related to long COVID.

When not conducting research in the lab, Lauren enjoyed spending time outdoors walking her dog, exploring a variety of hiking locations and tending to her numerous house plants!
